Same-day implants place the implant and a temporary tooth in the same appointment, so you do not leave with a gap. They are suitable only when the jawbone is strong and dense enough to hold the implant firmly from the start.
The basics
What are same-day dental implants?
Also called teeth in a day or smile in a day, this approach combines tooth removal, implant placement and a temporary crown or bridge in a single surgical appointment. With traditional implant treatment, the bone heals before any tooth is attached.
The implant still needs time to fuse with the bone. The permanent crown or bridge is fitted at a later visit, once healing is complete.

The plan depends on how many teeth are missing, your bone quality, your oral health and your general health.

- A bridge on implants for two or three missing teeth

Suitability
Who is it suitable for?
Same-day implants are considered when the jawbone has good quality and density, and no bone grafting or sinus lift is needed. Healthy gums and good oral hygiene also matter.
Some conditions, such as diabetes, osteoporosis or Paget’s disease, may make immediate implants unsuitable. Smoking slows healing, so you will be asked to stop before treatment.
Benefits and limitations
What to weigh up
Benefits: you leave with teeth rather than a gap, you do not need a removable denture while you heal, and you can speak and smile normally from the start.
Limitations: the bone still needs months to fuse with the implant, so you must follow a soft diet while it heals. Not following the diet can affect integration, and success rates can be slightly lower than with staged treatment.

Your coordinator stays in touch after you leave. You can send photos or arrange a video call with the clinic at any time, and we can share your records with your own dentist.
