Porcelain Crowns in Turkey
A porcelain crown is a permanent covering for a damaged tooth. The two most common types are porcelain fused to metal and all-ceramic crowns.

Materials
Metal-backed or all-ceramic?
Porcelain fused to metal crowns are strong, but the opaque layer that hides the metal reduces the natural translucency of the porcelain, and a dark line may show at the gum over time.
All-ceramic crowns look very natural and are often chosen for front teeth. They may be less strong than metal-backed crowns in long bridges.
Our porcelain and zirconia restorations are made from Ivoclar and Noritake materials in our own dental laboratory.
Types
Types of porcelain crown
- Leucite-reinforced pressable ceramic
- Lithium disilicate (E-max)
- Solid or monolithic zirconia
- High-translucency zirconia

Comparison
Zirconia or porcelain?
Zirconia is a stronger, more durable material and usually lasts longer under heavy chewing forces. All-ceramic porcelain gives a more translucent, natural look. Your dentist recommends a material for each tooth.
Lifespan
How long do porcelain crowns last?
Lifespan varies from person to person. Brushing, flossing, limiting sugary and fizzy drinks and regular check-ups all help a crown last longer.

Questions
Porcelain Crowns FAQ
The tooth is prepared under local anaesthetic. Some gum sensitivity or discomfort afterwards is common and usually settles if you eat soft food for a while.
Porcelain resists staining better than natural teeth or composite, but the gum line still needs careful cleaning.
Usually two appointments a few days apart. Your written plan confirms the timing.
It depends on the material and the number of crowns. You receive a written, itemised quote after your free online consultation.
