Root Canal Treatment in Turkey
Root canal treatment removes infected or inflamed pulp from inside a tooth, then cleans and seals it, so the tooth can be kept rather than extracted.

The basics
Saving your natural tooth
Inside each tooth is the pulp, a mix of nerves and blood vessels that extends into the roots through the root canals. When decay or a crack lets bacteria in, the pulp can become inflamed or infected and cause pain and swelling.
If it is not treated, infection can spread from the root tip into the jawbone. Root canal treatment removes the diseased pulp to protect the tooth and the surrounding tissue.
Causes
Why might I need it?
- Deep decay
- Repeated dental treatment on the same tooth
- A cracked tooth or broken crown
- Cracked or loose fillings
- Gum disease
- An injury to the mouth
Procedure
How it is done
Your dentist asks about your symptoms and medical history and takes an X-ray to see how far the infection has spread. Under local anaesthetic, the pulp is removed and the canals are shaped, disinfected, often with sodium hypochlorite, then filled and sealed to the root tip.
Some treatments are completed in one appointment; many take two or more.
Recovery
After treatment
Numbness can last a few hours, so take care not to bite your cheek. Some discomfort for a few days is common and can usually be managed with over-the-counter painkillers such as paracetamol. A crown is often recommended to protect the tooth.
